I love everything about this post. My husband and I are preparing for the day we have children. Making sure we can provide them with adequate love, support and time. We always wanted a planned pregnancy but I’ve been talking to God and have released my timeline because I know my father knows what’s best for me. I’ve grieved timelines and have learned to go at his pace, be content with where I am but prepare like the blessing is around the corner. ❤️keep writing!
Thank you so much for sharing this, Porchia. Your words are full of grace, faith, and intention. It’s truly inspiring to see the love and care you and your husband are putting into preparing for your future family. Trusting God’s timing isn’t always easy, but it’s such a powerful act of faith. I believe that kind of preparation, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, is already creating space for something beautiful. Blessings to you both as you continue this journey. Keep holding onto hope. You're right where you're meant to be. ❤️
I love this exchange! The idea of preparing for the answered prayer is a new thought to me and a good one. I am praying for something that at times feels too worldly or selfish. I am in charge of our 50 year class reunion. We are at 66 people and need 90 to break even. It is just over a month away. The Lord has given me some words to ponder and I think I will write out those thoughts soon in my post. Thanks for spurring me on to trust that God is at work even in such ordinary things that matter to me.
Thank you for sharing this. What a beautiful reminder that God cares about the things that matter to us, even class reunions! I love your openness to His leading and your willingness to trust Him in the process. I’ll be praying with you for those remaining spots to be filled and look forward to reading the words He’s putting on your heart.
I know this goes against the prevailing response but, if we prepare for an outcome, aren't we then telling the Lord how He is to answer the prayer? Aren't we then setting the course? Are we willing then if He says no? Certainly He has said no to me. Well, in truth He was silent and reasoning it in my own mind, I went ahead anyway. When it turned out badly and I asked why, the Holy Spirit said His silence was His no.
There is also this that the Lord spoke.
Luke 12:17-20
[17] And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’
[18] Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
[19] And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.” ’
[20] But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’
I guess there is something to be said for including in our prayers, as Jesus did in Gethsemane, Your will be done, not mine.
Hi Wendy. I appreciate your thoughts on these. Preparation is not a certain guarantee for the outcome of the prayers we make to God. It is a heart posture and when led by the Holy Spirit can lead us to receiving even better than we prayed for. After "all things work together for the good of those who love God' 😊💕☺️
